California Teen Learner’s Permit

Obtaining California Learner’s permit for Minors: (Under 17 ½)

  1. Enroll-in and Complete Teen Auto Club’s On-Line driver’s education-This step is required for any minor applying for a California learner permit prior to their 18th Birthday.
  2. Obtain a Certificate of Completion in online Driver’s Education- a certificate of completion will be mailed to your address of records, within 7-10 business days, after passing the final Exam.
  3. Schedule Your Written test appointment by visiting www.dmv.ca.gov*complete your Driver’s License application online at www.dmv.ca.gov

On the day of your appointment at the DMV Please have the following payment and Documents:

  1. Pay the application fee
  2. Present your completion of on-line driver’s education
  3. Present your original birth certificate or a certified copy-no copies are accepted
  4. Present your original birth certificate or a certified copy-no copies are accepted
  5. Show proof of residency (please visit the DMV web site for acceptable forms proving residency in California).

DMV DRIVE-TEST APPOINTMENT:

  • We will schedule your DMV drive test
  • On the day of your appointment you will be picked up 2 hours prior to the DMV road test.
  • You will have one full 2-hour lesson on the DMV road test.
  • Please Understand that the DMV prohibits driving schools to practices on its pre-designated test routes
  • About 20 minutes prior to your appointment time your instructor will take you inside the DMV to check in for your drive test.
  • After the completion of your test you will be given a ride back to your home/school or work…
  • Please understand that most DMV appointments can be delayed for an hour or more because DMV gets backed up

DMV Preliminary Test Assessment: If You have already been practicing but are not sure if you can pass the DMV test- we can provide you with a 2-hour assessment on how to pass the DMV road-test and their specific requirements and criteria’s as we asses and help you with passing the DMV Drive test. This will prepare you to pass the road test.
